Ray White Grind and Seal

Grind and Seal

Depending on your concrete, expected use and budget, grind and seal may be the best option for you. It is extremely hard wearing, easy to keep clean, abrasive and spill resistant.

Coated concrete floors use a similar process as hiperfloor, but we do not use a densifier or resin. Instead, the floor is coated with a sealer like polyurethane to achieve the level of gloss or satin finish you require.

Grind and seal can be used in a range of settings:

  • Residential homes
  • Industrial spaces
  • Commercial spaces
  • Restaurants
  • Retail outlets
  • Salons
  • Showrooms
  • Hotels, Pubs and Clubs

What is Grind and Seal?

Firstly, your concrete is course ground to expose the amount of stone desired. Progressively finer diamonds are then used to make the concrete smooth and free from scratches. A grouting agent is used to fill any small holes or pitting. The floor is thoroughly vacuumed and the first coat of hardwearing sealer is applied. Two more coats are applied with the final coat being a gloss, semigloss, satin or matt finish. Tuff coat is used for most grind and seals however we also use a variety of products depending on the individual floor and desired result.

Choosing the right sealer for your floor is very important. What level of traffic will it sustain? Does it need to be slip resistant or abrasion resistant? Will there be any chemical exposure? ie: salons.

Please feel free to discuss your requirements with us.

How long does it last?

A well cared for floor in a residential house would expect a maintenance free floor for at least 5 years. We have done and seen floors still looking good 10 years later! A maintenance coat can be done to rejuvenate a worn surface.
